I made 4 different college magazines in order to gain experience and learn how to construct a magazine efficiently.The following are the magazine cover pages and contents pages of the college magazines i made.

It was my first experience of constructing a magazine so i decided that i would like to experiment with all the ideas flooding my mind.I started off with thinking what kind of college magazine i would like to create.after alot of thinking i decided that i would create 4 different magazines and would show them all to my media teacher who can then decide which one is the best and thus would be my final preliminary task.
As i am my college's media deputy head i carry my dslr camera with me everywhere all the time so i take hundreds of pictures everyday.i started of with taking pictures of my friends and chose 2 of the best shots for the cover page's.The first one was a mid shot of my friend zee outside the college library.I used a canon 60d with a canon 50mm 1.8 lens which gave a lot of depth of focus to the picture,then i took the school buildings picture for the contents page.i edited it in photoshop and replaced the dull sky with a very vibrant sky filled with clouds and so it became a very captivating picture.i used various pictures from different college events which went along with the contents and make a collage out of them.i gave it the name "BMI news".The first magazine turned out to be good but not as good as i wanted it to be.
So i decided to contsruct another magazine.In the second magazine i again used a very glamorous shot of my bestfriend wearing the college uniform.i used a very vibrant and catchy color scheme for the text and used 3 tiny pictures for the contents page as i wanted it to look very neat.I gave it the name "beaconhouse mag".It turned to be very attractive and professional but my inner sense of perfection didnt let me get satisfied with it.thus i moved on to make another one.Fortunately the day i decided i was going to shoot more pictures for the preliminary task there was an oratory championship in the college and i was suppose to cover it.I got very good shots from the oratory championship and thus i decided to use 2 of those pictures for the 3rd and 4th preliminary task college magazine cover page.
For the 3rd magazine i used a black and white picture of the college's TBT correspondent giving the opening remarks of the oratory championship.and for the contents page i used a picture of a girl studying outside the college library in the corridors.It was a very beautiful picture i took as the way light fell from the pillars looked just amazing.It was also a black and white picture.I gave the name of the magazine "The beaconhouse times". It looked very good but the black and white magazine looked very sombre not a vibrant and energetic magazine.By the time i made the 3rd magazine i had learnt a great deal of photoshop and how to develop and construct a magazine so i decided to make the last and final magazine.
In this magazine i used a shot of one of the particpant of the oratory championship.The particpant was in the middle of a heated debate when i took this shot and thus the expressions were natural and energetic.Its a perfect mid shot but inorder to make it perfect for a magazine's cover page i edited it on photoshop.I changed the background and made it completely white so the particpant would look more prominent and so will the text that i will add on the cover page.After editing it i decided to use the name of the second magazine "beaconhouse mag" as it is the name of my college and wrote it on top of the picture.I did some heavy postproduction after which my final cover page was ready and finally satisfied me.then i started working on the contents page.After making various contents pages i decided that a contents page with tiny pictures looked better so i added the pictures and all the text.My color schemewas blue,white and off white.which looked very refreshing.After hours of research and construction of different experimental college magazines i finaly got finished with the construction of my final college magazine.
It was a very good experience as i learnt alot about the technical problems while constructing a magazine,i learnt about different fonts and effects and post-production and and editing.After the construction of 4 different magazines i was totally ready to start working on my final music magazine.I showed all my magazines to every student in college and 92% of them said that if it was the real college magazine they would definitely buy it.The ideas in my mind were beautifully came out in the form of actual magazines which of which im proud of =).
